Femininity

Talk about trailblazing, Maryam Mirzakhani became the first woman in 78 years to be awarded the prestigious Fields Medal, considered the highest honor in mathematics.  She was selected for “stunning advances in the theory of Riemann surfaces and their moduli spaces.”  The Fields Medal is awarded every four years to outstanding mathematicians under 40 who show promise of future achievement. There now have been 54 male and ONE (1) female medalists.  Read more here.

Fashion

JLEW Bags is female founded and originated in New York much like the Brazilian Wax!   “The Brazilian bikini wax was born here in New York, not Brazil,” says Jonice Padilha, of the J Sisters salon in Manhattan, which pioneered the treatment in the early 1990s.  Author Laura Malin has written a book about them called Wax and the City and says, “It’s an inspirational story of self-made women who came from nothing, illegal immigrants who made it in America,” . . . “It’s the American dream.”  You know we love these kind of stories – pick up your copy of the book and/or read more here.

Fitness

Ever suffer from a pinched nerve?  Exert yourself such that recovery becomes a challenge?   Our founder did and tried acupuncture for the first time this week. The treatment entails inserting needles into anatomical locations creating a very small injury, which your body must quickly heal.  This stimulates healing of the surrounding tissues, including muscle, fascia, nerves, skin and connective tissue. She thinks it worked!  Read more here about five ways it can actually make you “fitter!”

Flair

Millions of people have been captivated by a 5-year-old girl’s views on feminism, which she shared during an appearance on the Channel 4 show The Secret Life of 5 Year Olds.  Eva didn’t hold back when she explained her thoughts on gender equality. She has no time for anyone who thinks that anything’s off limits for girls. “Boys aren’t better than girls,” says Eva. “They’re exactly the same.”  Welcome to our tribe of #GirlsWithGuts Eva!
